What this paper is about
This paper introduces you to key elements of French language and culture. It assumes you have no previous experience of French.
How this paper will be taught
This paper has two two-hour lectures per week. Please see lecturer if you have a timetable clash.
Required Readings
We will work in class on a daily basis with Deux Mondes (8th edition) by Terrell et al. Do buy the book WITH the Connect book key. A good French-English dictionary (Collins-Robert or Oxford-Hachette for example) is also strongly recommended. The Library has many useful grammars and dictionaries as well as other works about French culture and history.
This paper has an online component which you will be able to access through the Connect book key sold with the Deux Mondes book. Additional information on how to access the Connect website will be posted on the Moodle page for this paper.

This paper is internally assessed.
Regular attendance is strongly advised and will result in a better outcome.
The internal assessment/exam ratio (as stated in the University Calendar) is 100:0. There is no final exam.
